Hi David, I sent a video my first rides. It is so much fun, and I can see that it will take practice to be as good as people in the videos. I will take your suggestion and buy padded bicycle shorts tomorrow. Do you have any thoughts on my general set up?
Great video shot of you, Beth. Your set up looks great. Perfect strap placement and saddle position, and your glide gait is looking great. You are ready to practice turns and longer rides. With your bike shorts, you can get longer and longer rides with reasonable comfort. Your first 20 miles will be your biggest learning miles and your first 100 will help you master many subtle techniques. Jump off for a few minutes of walking if your butt starts to hurt. Over time, you will grow accustomed to the saddle just as with a horse saddle.
Adjust your seat a notch in or out to hit new pressure points, and pull your bike shorts down the legs when you stop. Stopping occasionally like on a bike will allow you to stay out for hours eventually. You will earn the the skills and tolerance you need to really bring out the athletic capabilities of the .GlideCycle. You may not want to walk with mere mortals any longer as they are just too slow and ungainly. You will find the Avatar Glider Girl in you and long for running with the wind.
Let me know when that happens! Run hard, run long and run fast. We will be here if you have more questions along the way.
